Desert Island Dish March Round Up

Starting a new project, in your personal life or at work, is always nerve wracking. So I was chuffed, relieved and touched that you guys got involved in my first link up for Desert Island Dish.

This month’s theme was fruit and I’ve some great recipes to share.

Jacqui over at Recipes Made Easy shared this lovely raspberry mousse– I can almost taste how sharp and zingy they are! Desert Island Dish Round Up

I think that we all need to appreciate how Lisa / MumDadPlus4 has made a perfectly healthy banana pudding into something naughty and nice with the addition of Irish Cream! Desert Island Dish Round Up

This blood orange upside down cake shows these seasonal jewels off perfectly. Thank you to Shaheen from Allotment to Kitchen for sharing.Desert Island Dish round up

Savoury dishes are of course always very welcome and over on Caroline Makes, she has made coronation chicken a healthier option. I love it on a sandwich!

Another banana option, they would be plentiful on desert islands, is this stunning banana and biscoff cake from Kat at The Baking Explorer. Desert Island Dish Round Up

I also added my lemony flapjack as they’d be good for island adventures! Desert Island Dish Round Up

Thank you to everyone who took part 🙂

April’s theme will be Easter (of course)  and will go live on the 1st or 2nd (work allowing) so do get involved if you can. I am hoping for everything from chocolate to lamb, and all the seasonal feasts in between.

Turtle Bay, Blackburn

I admit to being a bit snooty about some restaurant chains; turning my nose up at faux Italian names and microwaved tapas. Tried once and never to return.  However not all chains are created equal. Wahaca, Wagamama and Pho for example, are all places I happily revisit. And as of this week I add Turtle Bay to that list.

I’d heard good things about Turtle Bay, but we’d just not made it into one. Then a new branch opened  and we were invited to try a taste of the Caribbean for ourselves at Turtle Bay Blackburn.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been into Blackburn centre and it is looking very smart with the newly created cathedral quarter looking great.Turtle Bay Blackburn // GoodEggFoodie Read More

Butternut squash soup with tomato and sweet corn

Sunshine in a bowl!

When I was in Las Vegas we had a great meal downtown in a very cool Mexican place, La Comida. I ordered  camaron del golfo which were delicious shrimp and chorizo on a bed of butternut squash, tomato and corn.

It was the vegetables which I loved the most, and not just because I was at the end of a week without much fruit or veg in my diet! They were lightly roasted and gently seasoned so the sweetness still shone through. When I came home, I wanted to recreate this, but I also realised that it would make some awesome soup. Read More

Breakfast at Worsley Park Marriot Hotel

Eating out is something we are lucky enough to be able to do regularly; whether it’s a quick local sushi tea when a freezer dive hasn’t defrosted or a Saturday ‘date night’ somewhere special. But what we don’t ever do is breakfast out.

To tempt me out for breakfast, it would have to be somewhere fairly close (I wake up hangry some days!), good choice and different to what I’d do at home (bowl of porridge or cereal, maybe toast when I’ve a bit more time).Worsley Park Marriot Hotel // GoodEggFoodie Read More
